The Chef's Table

I arrived an hour early and was surprised to see an empty parking area. I grabbed the closest spot to unload my equipment. Inside I met Rich Herzfeld, the owner, and we discussed logistics. His biggest concern was I be sure not to play too loud.. and that a good way to check was if folks were sitting near me or not.

I noticed the place was pretty empty as I began my set up. Then I chowed down some excellent breakfast food, and began tuning up.   Soon I detected a lot of activity around me. Folks were piling in in droves.. Ordering food and grabbing seating.. The place was suddenly packed! And I began playing..  It was noon. I started out with my original piece, the Mountain Song, and then on to the tunes from my list.

It was a fun way to celebrate the entrance of June, and thus Summer.. Along the way I met some real nice people who, like me, love music of many kinds. I am very grateful I had the chance to play the Chef's Table, and hope Rich will allow me the pleasure of returning soon.

On July 7th, I was set up by 11:50 am.. and with no time to spare.. tuned up and began my set. There was the French Open up on the wide Screen.. and folks eat Rich's delicious food, watched TV.. and listened to me. I enjoyed myself extremely much, as I always do when at this marvelous eatery. Folks in Fairfield are extremely friendly and generous.. with a wide variety of musical tastes.

This past Sunday found me once again at the Chef's Table. I began playing around noon and finished up around 3pm. There was much energy on premise. The clocks had been turned back an hour the night before and I'm thinking everyone appreciated the extra sleep. The time flew by. I played my new versions of White Bird, by "It's a Beautiful Day", and The Barricades of Heaven, by Jackson Brown. Playing Puff The Magic Dragon is always a crowd pleaser, as much of the families have young children who come alive at it's joyous melody and lyrics. All in all, this was a great day, for me, regarding live music. I had fun, and I think everyone else did too.
